Security Awareness Training Requirement

By Rama Dhuwaraha, vice chancellor and chief information officer, UNT System IT Shared Services

Nov. 4, 2016 – The online security awareness training has been updated and can now be accessed through the EIS portal. All employees must complete this year’s security awareness training by Dec. 31, 2016.

Employees are critical to protecting our technology resources and processes, as well as ensuring a safe virtual environment. Understanding roles and responsibilities inside our organization with online security awareness training helps to reduce risks and safeguard important information. We need employees to participate annually in online security training using the SANS Institute Securing the Human tutorials to improve overall security practices.

Please login to your EIS portal, or, and click on the link in the Information Security Training section.

The required training includes nine short video courses, which are each two to five minutes long, so that employees easily can complete the training during work time. There will be one assessment question at the end of each video. If employees want to learn more, there are six optional training modules on topics such as “Protecting your Home Network” and “Protecting your Kids Online.”

Once all video courses are complete, employees will have the opportunity to print a completion certificate and will earn one Continuing Professional Education, CPE, credit.
